This 1970s building was using a lot of electricity and heating oil and looked very scruffy. The upgrade added 80mm of polystyrene insulation to the building envelope and new high performance double glazed windows. The single pipe radiator system was replaced with a 2 pipe circuit with modern thermostatic valve radiators and Building Management System controls, hugely improving the energy performance and efficiency. Lighting was upgraded to high frequency fluorescent units throughout with Presence Detection switches.
Weber white render and a blue engineering brick base with custom dark grey aluminium flashings, sills and copings are the new building finishes. Windows and external doors were supplied and installed by Economy Glass, Kilkeel and the canopies, designed by the architect, were made and installed by Quantum Engineering and Design, Dungannon. Hitec Signs, Newry made the signage. The main contractor was Dunmore Construction of Dundrum.
