Family House in South Down

View from road Birds Eye 1 Birds Eye 2
A house for a young family in south County Down.  The design had to comply with 16 planning conditions.
Its calm, classic look were achieved with the use of symmetry, alignment and Golden Section proportion in the design of the front and side elevations.
The main private rooms look south and to the rear, allowing large windows for view, light and useful winter solar gain. This will reduce this home's carbon footprint in use. Very high levels of insulation, a high performance heating system and controls as well as a multi-fuel stove in the Living Room will minimise fuel usage while allowing some choice through the year of which fuel and system to use. The hot press is large enough to accommodate a solar hot water storage tank and the south facing rear roof is ideal for fitting panels.
Earlier design found not acceptable to Planning Service.
